My husbands birthday is coming up and when it comes to shopping for men here in Madrid I am at loss. You would expect that in order to find some trendy clothes for men all you would need to do would be going to the main department store. Like in Paris you would go to Printemps Homme and have a huge selection of styles and brands to choose of. In London if you are lost you can always fall back on good old Selfridges or Harvey Nichols to find what you need. It’s not that easy in Madrid…You won’t find a selection of trendy brands at the Corte Ingles. Who knows, maybe they are planning to open a male version of the recently opened space en c/ Serrano that carries Maje, Sandro, the Kooples etc.! But in the mean time we would have to figure out where the nice boutique stores are, which -of course- are much more fun to shop anyways! And to save you the trouble we made a list of our favorite shops and we even put them together in a map:
Not only they have very nice shirts but also a huge range of accessories, from glasses to wallets, to shoes and perfume. Calle de Jorge Juan, 38. Metro Velazquez
**They just opened a new store in c/ Piamonte, 18 (metro Alonso Martinez) called GALLERY +
This one carries brands like Paul Smith (P.S.),. Closed, Opening Ceremony and Lacoste Live.
The male version of the shop PEZ further up the road, one of the finest stores for women in Madrid which excels in elegant urban relaxed style. Pez chico carries brands like A.P.C and American Vintage. Calle de Regueros, 2. Metro Alonso Martinez.
As the name implies they have everything to dress you from head to toe, for men and woman. Plaza Chueca, 8, Metro Chueca.
EKS/ Ekseption is THE place to find designer clothing for women in Madrid. In their basement they also have dedicated a small space to men which carries brands like Acne Jeans and Maison Martin Margiela. C/ Velázquez, 28, Metro Velázquez. http://www.ekseption.es/hombre
